I’m Bart. I like to write stuff.

I am truly no one important. Just a father, former U.S. Marine, and a mega-nerd who loves video games and hockey. I derive little personal growth or satisfaction from my day job, but was afforded an opportunity to do a job that I always thought was cool. Now I’m a freelance hockey writer.

I am fortunate to be able to contribute to The Hockey News—Washington, so feel free to check out my work there as well, alongside my good friend Sammi Silber.

I can’t remember the first time I picked up a hockey stick, but I know I’ve loved the game ever since. While I wasn’t fortunate enough to have the means to play ice hockey throughout my childhood, I did play plenty of it on basketball or tennis courts, parks, or driveways. My side of my childhood home is bespeckled with dents and dings from pucks that missed the net.

I grew up a Flyers fan (I’m aware of the shortcomings), and idolized the era of the Legion of Doom. John LeClair, Eric Lindros, and Rod Brind’amore were among some of my favorite players. But I also just loved watching the game. I loved watching players like Peter Forsberg work his magic on the ice and the speed and finesse of Paul Kariya.

I have many amazing memories wrapped up in the game of hockey, and I love it.
